A Little About Karen
Karen’s roots run deep in Calgary. Before the Second World War, the Fowlie Family Ranch stood on MacLeod Trail, not far from the Stampede grounds. Her grandfather and great-uncle spent time in the Calgary stockyards buying horses and cattle for the ranch. Though the ranch is long gone, those roots called Karen home after more than two decades in British Columbia, and she returned to be with her Calgary-based family.
Back in 2007, Karen released her debut album, Pushing the Edge. The project earned both local and national attention, including an accolade from the Attorney General Wally Oppal. Karen’s music releases since then continue to show her range and heart. “Home” offers a message of support for anyone searching for lost hope. “Cherry Blossoms” captures Karen’s romantic, reflective side, while “Slipstream” ponders the possibility of influencing your destiny by finding a hole in the space/time continuum.
Today, Karen Fowlie continues to evolve with the same passion that has carried her since the start of her music career: she writes honest songs, gives memorable live shows, and has a love for lifting people’s spirits. With more concerts promised and new music coming soon, Karen is stepping into a fresh chapter of her music career.
